Trade Mark Attorney

About the role

We are looking to appoint a qualified Trade Mark Attorney to join our established and growing Trade Mark team in the Netherlands. This role will work closely with colleagues in Amsterdam and across our wider European network, providing high-quality, commercially focused advice to a diverse portfolio of clients.

Trade marks are vital business assets for our clients, and this role plays a key part in helping them protect, manage and enforce their intellectual property rights both in the Benelux, across Europe and internationally.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide expert trade mark advice and representation to clients, supporting them throughout the full lifecycle of their trade mark portfolios. You will work autonomously on client matters while collaborating with colleagues across Europe to deliver a seamless and high-quality client experience.

Key deliverables

• Advising clients on the availability, registrability and protection of trade marks and designs in the Benelux, EU and internationally
• Managing trade mark portfolios, including drafting and filing applications, prosecution, renewals and recordals
• Advising on trade mark infringement, enforcement and dispute matters, including oppositions and cancellations
• Providing clear, commercial advice on risk, strategy, costs and timelines
• Building strong client relationships and contributing to client retention and development
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across jurisdictions to deliver cross-border solutions
• Supporting business development activity, including marketing initiatives, events and thought leadership
• Keeping up to date with legal and regulatory developments in trade mark law

Required experience

• Qualified Trade Mark Attorney (Benelux and/or EU Trade Mark Attorney)
• Proven experience advising clients on trade mark prosecution and portfolio management
• Experience handling contentious trade mark matters, including oppositions and enforcement work
• Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and commercially
• Experience working with international clients and multi-jurisdictional portfolios
• A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to work independently
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English
