Senior Structural Engineering Specialist (Construcetechniek)

The Role

As a Structural Engineering Specialist, you play a key role in translating architectural designs into safe, sustainable, and technically sound structural solutions. You develop and validate structural models, perform engineering calculations, and ensure that every detail of the design meets the required technical standards. In addition to your technical responsibilies, you will coordinate project activities, guide junior colleagues, and monitor planning and project budgets to ensure smooth project delivery.

Key Responsibilies

• Develop and test structural models used for engineering calculations

• Perform design, sizing, detailing, and reinforcement calculations

• Investigate structures and construction details on site, including measurements and documentation

• Review calculations, drawings, and models produced by colleagues or external parties

• Advise engineers, modellers, and project teams on structural engineering matters

• Guide draughtsman and/or interns as part of senior responsibilies

• Coordinate with various engineering disciplines within project teams

• Monitor personal project planning and hours budgets

• Participate in construction and coordination meetings

• Support the technical and organizational coordination within projects

• Supervise colleagues and coordinate the technical execution of project work as a senior team member

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO/TU level) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architecture with a structural specialization

• Additional structural training such as HTI, BmS, or BV

• Minimum 5- 10 years of relevant professional experience

• Extensive knowledge of 2D and 3D engineering software

• Experience with 3D modelling tools such as Revit or Tekla

• Knowledge of construction materials, construction methods, and current regulations

• Affinity with multidisciplinary collaboration including installations, cost engineering, and fire safety

• Familiarity with systems engineering, Newforma, and quality management systems

• VCA-VOL certification (Safety for Operational Managers) or willingness to obtain it
