Project Coordinator – Global IFA (Amsterdam)

The International Fiscal Association (IFA) is the only non-governmental and non-sectoral international organisation dealing with fiscal matters. IFA is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (Global IFA), and operates worldwide through a network of independent local branches (IFA Branches), currently having more than 13,000 registered members in 114 countries.

IFA is a neutral, independent, non-lobby organisation and as such the only global network of its kind. As a non-profit organisation, IFA provides a neutral and independent platform where representatives of all professions and interests can meet and discuss international tax issues and developments in the field of international tax at the highest level.

The objectives of IFA are the study and advancement of international and comparative law in regard to public finance, specifically international and comparative fiscal law and the financial and economic aspects of taxation. IFA seeks to achieve these objectives through organizing a global Congress on an annual basis (Annual IFA Congress) as well as several (online) seminars at a global, regional, or local level, often in coordination with the IFA Branches; producing scientific publications; advancing scientific research, including through various scientific incentives and awards; and supporting IFA Branches. IFA also disseminates knowledge and stays connected with its members and stakeholders through various (social) media.

Job Description

Global IFA is seeking to strengthen the General Secretariat team in Amsterdam with a Project Coordinator. The Global IFA General Secretariat is responsible for the day-to-day operations, administration, communications and marketing activities of Global IFA.

The Project Coordinator plays a central role in planning, executing, and delivering Global IFA’s current and envisaged projects ensuring they are carried out to a high standard and aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Projects in which the Project Coordinator will be involved mainly include current and future events (such as the Annual IFA Congress, webinars and on-site meetings and seminars) as well as publications. The Project Coordinator may also spend about 10-20% of his/her time on other administrative tasks, such as membership administration and agenda coordination.

In performing this role, the Project Coordinator will:

  • Initiate and/or participate in project design meetings and develop and manage project plans, timelines, and – where relevant – budgets;
  • In the context of each project, work closely with all other subject-matter expert team members, members of the involved Global IFA Bodies and Committees, representatives of the IFA Branches, and any external suppliers/service providers;
  • Track key project milestones and communicate updates to the relevant parties, as required;
  • Communicate, inform, and coordinate with speakers, authors, contributors and any other person that is invited to participate in the relevant projects;
  • Maintain clear and accurate project documentation and supporting information;
  • Propose and, if approved, implement new (technological) solutions and processes that will improve the quality and timely delivery of the various projects;
  • Support the Global IFA General Secretariat team on all fronts, as required.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the Netherlands. Please note that Global IFA is currently unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Candidate Profile

While academic qualifications in project management or a related field are valuable, equivalent hands‑on experience in coordinating and delivering complex projects in an international environment is considered equally important. Candidates from diverse professional backgrounds who have gained substantial project‑management expertise through experience rather than a formal degree are welcome to apply.

  • Proven project‑management experience gained through professional roles involving coordination, planning, execution, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with a proactive, detail‑oriented mindset, suited to managing complex workflows and multiple priorities.
  • High level of digital literacy , ideally with Microsoft 365, CRM systems, and project‑management tools; familiarity with use of AI will be considered an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and preferably also Dutch , both written and verbal; knowledge of an additional language (Spanish, French, German) is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, diplomatic and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work closely with internal teams, external partners, and international stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team, demonstrating ownership, reliability, and problem‑solving capabilities.
