This is a full‐time role for a Consultant – Contracts and Claims. The Consultant will be responsible for providing strategic advice on contract formation, administration, and claims management throughout the project lifecycle.
Initially, the successful candidate will be based in their home country and must be eligible/flexible for travelling to Gulf countries for assignments. Following this period, there is an excellent opportunity to transition into a fixed position in the Netherlands.
What You Will Be DoingContract Formation and Procurement Consultancy
Advise clients on optimal contract strategies and documentation for large‐scale international projects (e.g., FIDIC, NEC).
Assist in the development, review, and execution of procurement and tender documentation.
Identify contractual risks during the formation stage and implement preventative measures to safeguard client interests.
Provide expert support during contract negotiations to finalise favourable commercial and legal terms.
Participate in the selection and due diligence of main contractors and subcontractors from a contractual perspective.
Contract & Claims Management
Oversee contract performance, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions across the project lifecycle.
Lead the preparation, submission, and defence of complex contractual claims, including time and cost extensions.
Strategise and support in various dispute resolution forums, including mediation, adjudication, and arbitration.
Prepare detailed commercial reports and contract summaries to inform management and client decision‐making.
Manage project variations, change orders, and instructions to ensure proper entitlement and accurate valuation.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a construction‐related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
Experience: 5–10 years' experience in contract management, preferably within large‐scale international construction projects, alliance and EPCm contracts.
Expertise: Proven experience in procurement strategy, contract formation and management, and dispute resolution within the mining, oil & gas or construction sectors.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to interpret complex data sets and contractual language.
Communication: Excellent and clear verbal and written communication skills, with strong proficiency in business English.
Flexibility: Ability and willingness to travel internationally as the assignment requires, particularly to the Gulf region.
